Amy Wolter to Teach at Club 3 Degrees Workshop
April 14, 2010 by Tom Jackson
On Thursday, April 15, beginning at 7pm, Club 3 Degrees, Vision Van Gogh, and Tom Jackson Productions will be hosting an artist improvement workshop: “Change That You Can Put in the Bank!”
The workshop will be held at Club 3 Degrees in Minneapolis, and is free for this year’s Club 3 tournament entrants. Cost for anyone else who wishes to attend is just $10/person or $20/band.
First, Guy Mahmarian, president of Vision Van Gogh, will speak on the importance of having the right merch and a properly crafted merch table. Did you know merchandise that is matched to your fan base can double or even triple the amount of income you can generate from every gig?
This session will be followed by a Live Music Makeover by Amy Wolter, Live Music Producer for Tom Jackson Productions. Watch Amy transform a full band and a soloist right before your eyes. Within a few hours, she will take a good song and make it an amazing song. Learn the principles that national artists have known for years.
Out of all the things you can do to take your gig to the next level, enhancing your stage show is top priority. This workshop will show you the “how-to’s” of doing just that!
For additional information about this workshop, please call 763-323-8834 or email: guy(at)visionvangogh.com.

Last weekend’s Onstage Success Bootcamp was a success! This 2-day sold out event was held at S.I.R. in Nashville, one of the area’s premiere rehearsal/showcase venues.
Artists came from all over the U.S., Canada, and even South Africa. Attendees included Tré Armstrong (judge from Canada’s So You Think You Can Dance), Maddy Rodriguez (15-year-old disBAND showcase finalist), 12-year-old Jaclyn Kenyon (Honey Jam 2010 which launched the career of Nelly Furtado and others), the Army’s 101st Airborne Band from Ft Campbell, KY (soon to be deployed to Afghanistan), and many more.

There Really is a New Music Industry!

Tom Jackson with Derek Sivers (CD Baby Founder) at the New Music Seminar in Los Angeles
I just spent time in Los Angeles at the New Music Seminar. It started the night after the Grammys with the “After Grammy Jammy” party at The Roxy; then a sold-out, intensive 1-day conference at the Henry Fonda Theater. Having lived in LA, it was a trip down memory lane for me!
Some background: the New Music Seminar was a huge, highly successful music event in the 80’s and 90’s. Tom Silverman, co-founder and director of the original legendary event, has resurrected it, because (if you didn’t know) there IS a new music industry!
But there was a real irony in the day. I’m not sure if the artists always heard what we were saying. Read more…

NMS is the must attend 1-day for the industry (artists, managers, labels, and more) who are seeking to learn and understand how to help artists “rise above the noise floor” in a shifting musical landscape.
